The project’s focus and objectives are strongly aligned with the RIS3 (Research & Innovation Smart Specialisation Strategies) of the participating regions, mainly in relation to the transition of industry and promotion of the circular economy, as well as the role played by innovation as a means of strengthening local economies and combating depopulation.
As part of the NaturFAB project, various innovative, circular products and processes will be tested, demonstrated and systematised using the local area’s own resources. A proactive approach will also be adopted for the cross-border transfer of innovations to manufacturing and the emergence of new business initiatives will be supported by making use of the important FabLab network in the cooperation area. Finally, activities will be carried out to transfer the project’s results to public policy and extend its impact beyond the project’s cooperation area and duration.
The partnership is made up of eight entities: three renowned universities in the region with notable scientific and technical capabilities, two public authorities with marked experience in the project’s field of action and three business support bodies, specialised in transferring innovation and enhancing corporate competitiveness. In addition to these beneficiaries, five further entities also collaborate with the project, including companies and public bodies that can make a significant practical contribution.
